That the LPD had in the 90's blows my mind. I got like 10 tapes for Christmas of old game film. Needless to say I'm up watching them all. Lord, how I wish I had stood with the parents when I was younger instead of playing pitch up and tackle. You want to talk about some players, Zirkle, Dorton, McCoy, Turner, Clark, Hamilton, Sensabough, the Jones Brothers, etc. We'll never have that amount of talent in this area again. I'm currently watching highlights from the 95 PV/JIB game and PV wins by 2-3 scores and it looks like to me that JIB team would wipe the field with any LPD team I saw this year. I must say the music on the old highlight films is hillarious. I've not heard many of these songs since I was a kid.

I couldn't agree more PVFAN. Although I played in that era I am a little biased but there was some great football throughout the 90's. I don't exactly remember the numbers but in 95 when TJ rushed for 462 against us Boo Sensabaugh had a great game as well rushing for close to 300. Also in that entire season TJ rushed for ungodly type numbers 3,500 yds, Boo rushed for a quiet 2,500 or so.

Also, IMO when PV and Appy were pulling in all those titles in the 90's the teams that got beat by those teams in the Region especially in Div 1 could have went on and possibly won a few titles. The LPD was deep and year in year out 4 teams could have probably brought back the gold. People would always tell me that the Regional game between Burton/Appy in the 90's would determine the State Champion, and in a sense they were right because Appy on most occassions went up there and laid the wood to those teams. The only bad thing was we (Burton) could not get over that hump and beat Appy @ the Dawghouse on that Saturday in November.

What all old game films did you get PVFAN?

If you got any early 90's (say 92-93) game film of Clintwood, pay attention to 28 from Clintwood, Denny Wright. He's the most underrated players to ever play around here. He's one of the fastest LPD players ever and was a hell of an athlete. He had college offers from a few schools like GA Southern and the like but got interest from UNC and Clemson. He just wasn't interested in going to college. He was the first person to ever break any of Johnny McFall's records at CW. We beat Garden my JR year 60-12 and he broke the single game rushing record (over 300 yds), td in a game record (5), and longest td from scrimmage record in that game (96). He was a hell of a Safety too.

If you got anything ealier in the 90's than that, Rodney Stanley from CW was an absolute monster. He played LB for CVC. I've never been hit harder than I was by him. He was a tank.

My Aunt and Uncle were good friends with Rodney at the college and I actually went to Baltimore with him and my uncle to watch an orioles game. He was a stud at LB, it was fun watching him play.

I've got some other games around here somewhere but those are the ones I got for Christmas. I'd like to get the 89 state game along with some other games.
